Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the Minister of Interior, is set to inaugurate Abuja's inaugural online passport application portal, marking a significant leap towards modernization in government services.

During a demonstration session last Friday, the Minister shared insights into the online portal alongside Caroline Adepoju, the Comptroller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service. The online platform caters to both international and Nigerian applicants, aligning with the Federal Government's commitment to fully automate the passport application system.

In a December announcement, Dr. Tunji-Ojo revealed that the automated application system was nearing completion, reaching a remarkable 99% progress. The system is designed to facilitate the seamless uploading of passport photos and supporting documents.

For Nigerian applicants seeking 32-page passports with a five-year validity, the fee is set at N25,000, while those opting for 64-page passports with a 10-year validity will pay N70,000. Foreign applicants can apply for passports with a five-year validity and 32 pages for $130, or choose passports with a 10-year validity and 64 pages for $230. Applications can be submitted at https://passport.immigration.gov.ng."
