Atiku Abubakar

Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 election, has announced his readiness to spearhead a coalition of opposition parties aiming to unseat the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 elections. He conveyed this intention in a congratulatory message to PDP governors whose election victories were affirmed by the Supreme Court on Friday.

In an official statement from his media office in Abuja, Atiku hailed the court's decision as positive news for the people of Bauchi, Plateau, Cross River, and Zamfara states, emphasizing that it signifies a triumph for constitutional democracy.

The PDP presidential candidate also extended congratulations to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State, who belongs to the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP). Atiku reiterated his belief that only a united opposition force can fortify democracy in Nigeria.

Atiku stated, “I am as prepared as ever to lead the charge, alongside all our leaders and governors, for the good of our country.” He highlighted the significance of justice in the democratic process and expressed patriotism for the country.

By the Supreme Court's verdict, Atiku remarked that there is a secured continuation of the standards of good governance that the PDP has established in the respective states. He encouraged the PDP governors, including Bala Mohammed of Bauchi, Dauda Lawal of Zamfara, Barr. Caleb Muftwang of Plateau, and Pastor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom, to view their Supreme Court victories as opportunities to consolidate and expand the scope of good governance.

With the electoral phase concluded, Atiku expressed confidence that the PDP can now focus on its role as the primary opposition party in the country, with the capable leadership of the party's governors and himself.
