The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) dismisses claims of withdrawing passwords from local government supervisors in Imo State, clarifying that result upload passwords have been appropriately released to Presiding Officers.
The Chief Press Secretary to the INEC Chairman, Rotimi Oyekanmi, refuted allegations made by unidentified concerned workers, stating that the claim of withdrawing passwords from APO1s was entirely false. Oyekanmi clarified that Presiding Officers (POs), not APO1s, are responsible for result uploads to the IReV, and all passwords have been securely released for designated officials to use in accordance with the commission’s procedure.
In a statement released on Friday, Oyekanmi emphasized, “For the avoidance of doubt, Presiding Officers (POs), and not APO1s, are responsible for result upload to the IReV. All the passwords have been securely released for use by designated officials in line with the commission’s procedure.”
He cautioned the public to expect further unfounded claims before, during, and after the elections, advising them to dismiss such insinuations.
