A 19-year-old boy apprehended by the Kogi State Police for attempting to bury his step-brother, following instructions from his mother, over a purported theft of N1,000.
In a shocking incident that unfolded Tuesday evening at Apamisede Community in the Adavi Local Government area of Kogi State, 19-year-old Goodness Oshodi was apprehended by operatives of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) for allegedly attempting to bury his step-brother, Friday Oshhodi, alive. This horrific act was carried out at the instruction of their mother, who accused Friday of stealing N1,000.
Thankfully, the victim was rescued by vigilant neighbors. Eyewitnesses reported that the stepmother had directed her eldest son to mete out punishment to Friday for allegedly taking her N1,000.
Following his mother's orders, Goodness brutally beat Friday before deciding to resort to the shocking act of attempting to bury him alive.
In a chilling confession, Goodness explained that he was merely executing his mother's directives, who had instructed him to punish his sibling for allegedly stealing from her and attempting to flee with the money, as he often did.
He further revealed that their mother, who had commanded him to discipline Friday, was away at church when the horrific incident occurred.
The spokesperson for the state's police command, SP William Aya, confirmed the deeply disturbing event, stating that the young boy has been arrested and is currently undergoing interrogation. He added, "Yes, we are aware. The boy has been arrested. An investigation is ongoing as to why and how such a thing could happen."
