Abdullah Abu Shawesh, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Palestine in Abuja, has called for a reevaluation of the global stance towards Israel. He emphasized the importance of holding Israel accountable for its actions and cautioned against unconditional support, asserting that Israel has begun to regard itself as exempt from international law.

In a comprehensive interview with ARISE NEWS on Thursday, Ambassador Shawesh addressed the commencement and repercussions of the current Israel-Hamas conflict. He also highlighted that some videos circulating, depicting Hamas soldiers allegedly targeting Israeli civilians, are generated by Artificial Intelligence (AI).

Speaking on the genesis of the conflict, Shawesh stated, “It’s not a war between Hamas and Israel, it’s an Israeli war against the Palestinian people that was not adopted only 5 days ago. It’s a long time ago since about 1948. We have only one song and we will not hesitate to repeat it to all times and times. This is something happened long time ago, this is a war from the Israeli side.”

He further emphasized that while the cameras primarily focus on the Gaza Strip, the war has extended beyond Gaza, reaching the West Bank and other areas east of Jerusalem. Shawesh underscored that this is an ongoing conflict, not a sudden eruption.

Addressing the videos purportedly showing Hamas military personnel targeting Israeli citizens, Shawesh asserted that these were part of an Israeli propaganda trap. He clarified that these videos were AI-generated. Meanwhile, he pointed out that, as of Thursday, the Israeli military had reportedly taken the lives of over 1,050 Palestinians, the majority of whom were civilians.

Shawesh challenged the Israeli narrative, stating, “The Israeli propaganda to justify all of these deaths is saying and will continue to say that Hamas is hiding under military groups, hiding between the Palestinian civilians. This is completely not true. They have the very sophisticated equipment, the very sophisticated technology that they can at least show us some pictures, some videos that yes, the military group is hiding between the Palestinian civilians. They can’t take this and show us.”

The Palestinian Ambassador went on to highlight the severe humanitarian crisis in Gaza, where essential supplies, including food, fuel, electricity, and medical resources, have become critically scarce. He emphasized that Gaza's inhabitants are facing a dire situation and urged the international community to act.

Shawesh implored the global community to reconsider their unwavering support for Israel, emphasizing that Israel has, in the past, disregarded international resolutions. He stressed, “The international community has a lot of tools, diplomatic tools, lots of them that they can use to put an end to not only the genocide but to put an end to the chronic Israeli incubation. First and foremost, of course is to stop treating Israel as the grumpy, spoiled teenager. Stop treating Israel as a state above international law. Stop giving Israel unconditional and unlimited support all over the world.”
