Akpa was initially detained by the Commission on December 2, 2022, at his office in the Idu area of Abuja, based on a petition accusing him of obtaining the sum of N500,000,000 through deceitful means. He was set to face five charges in court, but he evaded the administrative bail granted by the Commission.
Despite multiple attempts to capture him, he managed to elude authorities until his re-arrest on August 9, 2023.
Legal proceedings against him will follow in due course.
