Dr Betta Edu

Dr. Betta Edu, the newly appointed Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, has outlined the Federal Government's ambitious plan to elevate 133 million Nigerians out of poverty. Speaking on Monday after assuming her role, Edu engaged with heads of agencies under her ministry to discuss this goal.

Edu emphasized that achieving this objective requires a range of interventions and initiatives designed to combat poverty. "Our primary focus is to raise 133 million Nigerians out of poverty," she stated. She further emphasized the importance of approaching this task incrementally, one step at a time, driven by determination and resolute intent.

In her words: “What is most important is that we will keep our focus on lifting 133 million Nigerians out of poverty.

“We can do it in phases, a step at a time because with determination and strong will, nothing is impossible”,

As the new Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Edu takes the reins from Sadiya Umar Farouq, tasked with addressing the complex challenges of poverty faced by Nigerians.
