Chelsea is rumored to be interested in bringing back their former player, Marc Guehihv, who currently plays for Crystal Palace. The 23-year-old center-back joined Palace in a hefty £18 million transfer from Chelsea in 2021.

The reason behind Chelsea's pursuit of a new center-back is the unfortunate injury sustained by French defender Wesley Fofana. Fofana, 22, suffered a serious ACL injury and will be out of action for several months after undergoing corrective surgery.

This setback has left Chelsea with limited options in the center-back position, with only 38-year-old Thiago Silva and 24-year-old Trevoh Chalobah available as right-sided center-backs. The team's manager, Mauricio Pochettino, also has Levi Colwill and Benoit Badiashile at his disposal, but they are both left-footed and typically play on the left side.

Chelsea is considering the prospect of signing a new center-back due to concerns about Silva's age and uncertainties surrounding Chalobah's future. Re-signing their former academy graduate, Guehi, is one of the potential options being considered.

Guehi has impressed since joining Crystal Palace and has made 40 appearances for them during the 2022-23 season, contributing one goal and helping the team keep nine clean sheets. It remains to be seen whether Chelsea will intensify their efforts to bring Guehi back to the club this summer.
