Hitler Nwala, a digital forensic expert, has testified before the Presidential Election Petition Court in Abuja that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) wiped off the results of the Nigerian presidential election held on February 25, which resulted in President Bola Tinubu of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) being declared the winner.

Nwala was the 25th witness for thellllllllllllllll Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Atiku Abubakar, who is contesting Tinubu's victory. Nwala claimed that the deleted results were stored in the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) machines that were used for the elections, which could support Atiku's allegations that the election was rigged in Tinubu's favor.

INEC, however, maintains that it had to wipe the BVAS devices to redeploy them for the Governorship and State Houses of Assembly elections held on March 18. During the cross-examination of Nwala, INEC counsel, Abubakar Mahmoud, said that the sample size relied on in Nwala's report was not sufficient to establish irregularity.

Atiku's legal team also tendered certified copies of INEC's Forms EC8A from 20 local government areas in Ogun State and certified copies of polling unit results from 17 LGAs in Ondo State, 27 LGAs in Jigawa, and 20 LGAs in Rivers State as evidence. The case continues with the Respondents set to open their defense.
