In a surprising turn of events, insider sources have revealed that the Glazer family, the current owners of Manchester United, would rather sell a majority control stake of the club to British billionaire Jim Ratcliffe, than sell the whole club to Sheikh Jassim bin Abdulaziz Al-Thani of Qatar.
This news comes as a shock to many fans who had hoped Sheikh Jassim's rumored offer of a whopping £3 billion for the entire club would finally rid them of the Glazer family's controversial ownership.
According to sources, the Glazers are seeking to offload just enough shares to retain a minority control, allowing them to remain involved in the running of the club while giving Ratcliffe, who currently owns the Ineos chemicals group, a significant majority share.

Ratcliffe, a renowned football enthusiast and owner of FC Lausanne-Sport, is said to have long been interested in buying a stake in Manchester United, having even previously attempted to buy Chelsea in 2018.
However, Sheikh Jassim, the cousin of PSG owner Nasser Al-Khelaifi, remains a formidable contender for ownership of the Red Devils, with many still believing his generous offer could prove too good for the Glazers to turn down.
