Midfielder Donny van de Beek has secured a loan move to Eintracht Frankfurt from Manchester United for the remainder of the season.
As part of the agreement, Eintracht Frankfurt will pay a loan fee to Manchester United along with covering the majority of van de Beek's wages. The Bundesliga club also holds an option to purchase him in the summer for €11 million, with an additional €3 million in potential add-ons.
Van de Beek, originally a £40 million signing from Ajax in 2020, has approximately 18 months left on his contract at Old Trafford. His departure increases the likelihood that he may have played his final game for Manchester United.
Despite making 62 appearances for United, the 26-year-old has started only six Premier League games and played just 21 minutes this season in two substitute appearances against Crystal Palace. Despite ongoing injury issues at United, he hasn't featured since September, and the arrival of Erik ten Hag, his former Ajax manager, has not led to a revival of his career at Old Trafford.
Currently occupying the sixth position in the Bundesliga and remaining in contention in the Europa Conference League, Eintracht Frankfurt offers van de Beek the opportunity for more consistent first-team action. However, the club has faced challenges, losing six of their last eight matches across all competitions.
