Renowned Anambra politician and entrepreneur, Nicholas Ukachukwu, has formally requested heightened security measures by deploying 16 soldiers, 20 policemen, and 12 operatives from the Department of State Services (DSS) to ensure his safety during the upcoming festive period.
Ukachukwu's plea for increased security is in response to recent security threats in the region, notably the attack on the convoy of former Anambra State political heavyweight, Chief Chris Uba, where two policemen and four others lost their lives.
Scheduled to visit his hometown, Osumenyi in Nnewi South Local Government Area of Anambra State, in early January 2024, Ukachukwu outlined the need for robust security measures in letters addressed to the heads of various security agencies in the state.
In one of the letters directed to the Commander of the 302 Artillery Regiment in Onitsha, Ukachukwu stated, "I humbly write to request 16 Army security personnel to provide security for me during my scheduled program in Anambra State and beyond, from January 6th to 10th, 2024. This request takes into account the security challenges in my hometown of Osumenyi."
He further outlined a series of events, including the inspection of a personal road project, dedication of a village church, performance of traditional rites related to his recent marriage to Miss Universe Nigeria, Mitchel Ihezue, and the dedication of another church.
Ukachukwu expressed optimism, stating, "I graciously hope my request will be given favorable consideration and approval."
