The Ilorin Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) successfully prosecutes Tijani Quadri Olasunkanmi and Soneye Basit Abiodun for internet fraud, resulting in their sentencing by Justice Adebayo Yusuf.







the Ilorin Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has achieved the conviction and imprisonment of Tijani Quadri Olasunkanmi and Soneye Basit Abiodun for their involvement in a N22 million fraud. This judgment was delivered by Justice Adebayo Yusuf of the Federal High Court in Ilorin, Kwara State.

Both individuals pleaded guilty to separate one-count charges related to internet fraud, brought against them by the EFCC. One of the charges specifically implicated Tijani Quadri Olasunkanmi, stating that he knowingly possessed the sum of N21,862,800.00, which was identified as proceeds of criminal activity.

Following their admission of guilt, the prosecution counsel, Isabel Adeniran, urged the court to proceed with the sentencing and conviction of the defendants.

In response, Justice Yusuf sentenced Olasunkanmi to six months of imprisonment without the possibility of a fine. Additionally, he was required to forfeit a Lexus RX350 Sports Utility Vehicle, an iPhone 14 promax, and a MacBook laptop to the Federal Government.

Similarly, Abiodun received a six-month prison sentence, with an option to pay a fine of N50,000. He also had to forfeit an iPhone 6+ and the sum of N220,000 to the Federal Government. Furthermore, he was instructed to reimburse his victim with $180.

The convicted individuals were subsequently transported to the Correctional Centre by operatives of the Ilorin Zonal Command of the EFCC. Their offenses primarily involved impersonating foreigners and engaging in fraudulent activities against them.
