The Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in Niger State, Idris Lafene, has appealed to the Umaru Mohammed Bago-led government to address the issue of salary arrears owed to civil servants inherited from the previous administration in the state.
Lafene made this plea during a familiarisation tour led by Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mu’azu Hamidu Jantabo, to various agencies and parastatals under his ministry.
Highlighting the pressing concerns faced by civil servants, Lafene emphasized the need for actions addressing issues such as the consequential adjustment of the minimum wage, outstanding salary arrears, and the need for effective promotions within the civil service.
Commissioner Jantabo reassured the staff members of agencies under his jurisdiction that significant improvements in their welfare package were on the horizon. He emphasized the commitment to ensuring that financial resources allocated to agencies would yield tangible positive outcomes, bringing an end to the era of ineffective resource distribution.
