Former US President Donald Trump has taken to the platform X, previously known as Twitter, to share his mugshot after being booked in Georgia on charges related to the state's 2020 election results. In a historic development, Trump became the first former US president to have a mugshot.
The charges against Trump include plotting to overturn the 2020 election results in Georgia, and he faces a total of a dozen felony counts. To secure his release from Fulton County jail while awaiting trial, Trump paid a bail bond of $200,000.
Shortly after Georgia officials released the mugshot, Trump himself shared the image on X along with the words: "Election interference, never surrender." This post marks Trump's return to the platform after a hiatus of more than two years.

Trump's original X account had been banned following the events of January 6, 2021, when the US Capitol was invaded. Elon Musk, who acquired X, reinstated Trump's account last year.
As Trump is running for president in 2024, he also used the opportunity to share the mugshot on his campaign website, where he made an appeal for donations. In a statement, Trump expressed his perspective that he had been "arrested despite having committed no crime." This development underscores the ongoing legal and political challenges that Trump is navigating as he pursues his presidential ambitions.
