Mikel Arteta surprised everyone with his unexpected lineup against Nottingham Forest, and now, just over a week later, he might be planning to do the same. As Arsenal prepares to face Crystal Palace, Arteta faces decisions regarding player choices. One of the challenges arises in the goalkeeper position, where Arteta needs to choose between David Raya and Aaron Ramsdale. In my opinion, it's wise to stick with Ramsdale for now, unless he makes a significant error.
Defensive challenges persist due to the absence of Jurrien Timber, who is sidelined with an ACL injury. Arteta might consider using Alex Zinchenko if he's fit after returning to full training this week. Zinchenko's ball-handling skills could be advantageous against Palace's defensive approach.
Reintroducing Gabriel in the central defense seems like a good move. This adjustment would require shifting William Saliba and Ben White to the right. While Thomas Partey played as a right-back against Nottingham Forest, Palace's agile wingers like Eberechi Eze require a more natural defender. As a result, Partey would be moved to central midfield.
In the midfield, I prefer Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard. Rice could excel in an advanced eight role, and Odegaard is essential as the club captain.
For the attacking lineup, I suggest Eddie Nketiah alongside Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli, while keeping Kai Havertz on the bench. This approach keeps Havertz as a potential substitute along with Leandro Trossard.
