In a recent appearance on the Leaderboard podcast, music executive Don Jazzy opened up about his decision not to sign two of Nigeria's biggest Afrobeats stars, Wizkid and Davido, to his now-defunct record label, Mo'Hits. The Mavin Records CEO explained that Banky W, CEO of EME Records, had already taken the opportunity to sign Wizkid, leaving no chance for Don Jazzy.
As for Davido, Don Jazzy revealed that he had the opportunity to sign him but decided not to, believing that Davido had the talent and drive to thrive without the support of a record label. In hindsight, Don Jazzy admits that signing both Wizkid and Davido would have been "amazing", but he has no regrets about his decisions.
He Said:
"I had the opportunity of signing Davido but I didn’t because I kind of figured that he would be fine. Wizkid, obviously, I couldn’t because Banky W got to him first. That would have been amazing".
