In a shocking turn of events, the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) successfully stopped two women from selling a two-month-old baby in Oshodi. It all started when passengers on a public bus heard the baby's non-stop crying and grew suspicious of the woman holding it.
After questioning the woman, identified as Oge Okolie, aged 25, it was discovered that she was the intermediary between the mother of the baby and a prospective buyer. The suspect was almost lynched by angry bystanders, but the RRS arrived in time to rescue both her and the baby.
Further investigation led to the arrest of the baby's mother, Maria Ahmadu, aged 26. The RRS has transferred the suspects and the baby to the Gender Unit of the Command for prosecution.
This disturbing incident sheds light on the continued problem of child trafficking in Nigeria and emphasizes the importance of vigilance from the public in combating it. The RRS is commended for their quick action in preventing a potential tragedy.
