Reno Omokri, a social media personality and former advisor to ex-president Goodluck Jonathan, has voiced his displeasure with a movie series planned by well-known American rapper and producer 50 Cent.
According to a previous story from Netizen, 50 Cent stated plans to create a movies based on infamous Nigerian internet fraudster Ramon Abass, also known as Hushpuppi.
However, Omokri has denounced the planned production, calling it an effort to further harm Nigerians' reputation abroad.
He says that other notable Nigerians should be recognized for their contributions to a variety of disciplines and that their stories should be told.
He wrote via his verified Twitter handle on Thursday:
''Not impressed by 50 Cents planned movie on Hushpuppi. It will further tank Nigeria’s already battered image,”
He added:
“@50Cent's planned movie on Hushpuppi will further tank Nigeria’s battered image, Many positive things come out of Nigeria, like Dr. Oluyinka Olutoye, the first man to successfully perform surgery on an unborn baby outside its mother’s womb, and restore it back in its mum’s womb after the procedure. Do a movie about those!”
Omokri also suggested that the rapper should create a movie series about Bernie Madoff, a legendary American con man who was the mastermind behind the biggest Ponzi scheme ever.
He said, “Rather than Hushpuppi, if 50 Cent really wants to do a movie about fraud, then he should consider doing one on Bernie Madoff, an American who stole $50 billion, thereby pulling off the biggest heist ever on earth.”
